The Social Studies Minor at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the various social sciences, including history, political science, geography, and economics. This minor is designed to complement a range of major fields by equipping students with analytical skills and a deepened awareness of social dynamics and historical contexts. Students engage in diverse coursework that fosters critical thinking and enhances their ability to understand and address complex societal issues. The program prepares graduates for careers in education, public service, and other fields that benefit from a strong foundation in social studies.
