Affordable Education at UMPI

We are committed to providing affordable education with a range of financial aid options. UMPI offers free tuition for eligible students and is really, really affordable for everyone else.

Full tuition coverage for eligible Maine students.

Free tuition and fees for eligible Maine residents (first-year and transfer)–a savings of more than $9,400 per year!

Selected recipients will receive a combination of both grant and scholarship funds to cover the annual cost of standard tuition and fees. Recipients are required to attend as full time students and successfully complete 12 credit hours per semester.

A limited number of awards are available for first time, full-time or transfer students from Maine who have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), are Pell Grant eligible, and have a Student Aid Index (SAI) of 6,655 or lower. Priority will be given to students who apply for Financial Aid by March 31. If applying after March 31, please contact the UMPI Admissions Office for details and availability.

Significantly reduced tuition and fees for qualifying Maine residents.

Maine applicants who are not Pell-eligible or have a Student Aid Index (SAI) of 6,656 or higher may receive significant reductions for tuition and fees. (a savings of at least $4,600 or more in financial aid grants and scholarships).

Competitive tuition rates

Out-of-State and International students pay just $14,861 per year in tuition and fees.

Available for eligible first-year and transfer students.

Open to all domestic and foreign students, Merit scholarships are awarded upon acceptance based on academic criteria. No additional application required!

  • $5,000 (renewable each year) for traditional undergraduates
  • $2,000 (renewable each year) for Transfer students

Plus: Freshman Foundation Scholarships, Native American Tuition Waiver, and others!
