UMPI Class of 2015 Bachelors in Business Administration, Business Management

Update by Christopher Phillips, alumnus

Christopher Phillips graduated Summa Cum Laude from UMPI’s Business Administration program with a concentration in Management and a minor in Pre-Law. The summer before his graduation, he had the opportunity to intern with the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians (HBMI) in Littleton as an Economic Development Assistant, where he helped with research and producing reports. That internship turned into a career: after graduation, he was hired by HBMI as an Assistant Grant Writer/Project Manager, where he now researches and assists with securing grants for programs that range from economic development, health, youth, and environment. Phillips recently applied to a 10-week internship in Washington, D.C. at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He also has been nominated to participate in Leadership Maine for the Omega Class of 2016-2017. He says next year is going to be very busy, but he’s looking forward to every second of the ride. “A big thank you goes out to the University of Maine at Presque Isle, the Houlton Higher Education Center, and all the instructors that have given me the opportunity to learn and share their wealth of knowledge,” he said.
