Dear UMPI Community,

As we return from Spring Break and begin the final weeks of the semester, I wanted to send a quick email your way about testing and masking.

No later than 48 hours after your return to campus, or after your first on-site class following break, please plan to spend a few minutes and be tested at the UMPI Testing Center (in the Campus Center) or Houlton Center if you are living on campus or participating in any in-person, on-campus experiences.  We are conducting this round of testing to ensure a baseline of our campus community positivity rate, which will inform the University of Maine System’s decision in regards to its face covering policy after April 1.  We are asking all students, faculty, and staff to participate in this testing.

Finally, please note that the UMS has extended its current face covering policy through April 1; this applies to everyone regardless of vaccination status.  You can find the motion current information here.  As noted above, the System is currently evaluating this requirement and will be posting new guidance prior to April 1 with the potential for easing aspects of the mandate.  We will update you on any new guidance as soon as we are notified.
