The Student Health Center is located in the Emerson Hall Annex. It provides students with a range of on-campus professional medical services. A registered nurse practitioner is available by appointment only. Please contact the office to schedule an appointment. We offer both in-person and telehealth appointments. Let us know if you will need accommodations to schedule, or participate in, your appointment.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency please call 911 (or your local medical emergency number) or seek immediate care from the nearest hospital emergency room.

The Health Center offers a variety of services to our students. Some of the services are as follows:

  • Basic Illness Care
  • Physical Examinations
  • STD Screenings
  • Tobacco Cessation/Education
  • University Required Immunizations
  • Birth Control Counseling
  • Basic Nutritional Counseling
  • Sports Physicals
  • Referrals to our Counselor for Mental Health assessments and counseling

Eligibility

In order to qualify for care at Health Services, students must be actively enrolled in at least one course. Students not enrolled in courses will not be offered an appointment. Ineligible students can receive resources for local health care options.

Please contact the Health Center by email umpi-health@maine.edu or by phone 207-768-9587 or stop by Emerson Annex to make an appointment. If it is after hours or you are unable to get an appointment, please note that there is an urgent care and a hospital within 1.5 miles from campus.

Based on Maine law, the University of Maine System requires students to be immunized against certain diseases and submit official immunization records prior to attending classes, or participation in University activities. Please read our Immunization Compliance Requirements carefully and submit all required documentation to the Point N Click portal.

Whether you are hunting for insurance for the first time or are replacing an expired policy, there are many options available to prospective and current students of the University. While our office does not assist with the process of applying for insurance, we can connect students with resources to access health insurance.

Current and prospective athletes are required to complete yearly paperwork, upload valid insurance information, and provide additional medical documentation prior to their participation in athletics at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Student Athletes should refer to the Student Athletic Pre-Participation Checklist.  Any questions regarding the checklist and requirements should be directed to the Head Athletic Trainer.

Before moving to campus, students should consider gathering their medical records from their provider(s) and submit them to the Health Center. This is to ensure a smooth coordination of care while attending the University should a student need to access the Health Center.

* If the student is a minor, they will need their legal guardian to complete a consent to treat form prior to attending UMPI. Having the form completed prior can help prevent delays in accessing care at our offices.
