On Saturday, June 1, Presque Isle Historical Society’s Maysville Museum will open for the season. Each season, the Society debuts a new exhibit and this year’s exhibit is “Quilts: The Fabric of Life” featuring 12 antique quilts from the Society’s collection. In addition, the Society partnered with the 8th grade class of Presque Isle Middle School during their poetry module. Students wrote poems either about the quilts or inspired by them. These poems are an integral part of the exhibit with all of the poems in a bound book; some were chosen to be displayed alongside the quilts. The museum, located at 165 Caribou Road, will open Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. with a brief presentation at 10:15 a.m. Admission to the museum is free and it will be open through the end of October, Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (providing there are volunteers to staff it each of those days, except holidays).
