11/20/20 – Message from President Rice to campus

posted in: Latest Communications

Dear UMPI community,

As promised, I am writing to let you know that contact tracing connected with the three cases of COVID-19 identified yesterday was completed earlier today. All “close contacts” have been notified, so if you have not been contacted, it means you have not been identified as a close contact.

There are still a very small number of students who are waiting for their results from the most recent round of asymptomatic testing and we would ask you to continue to stay in place until your results are received. To all others, please travel home safely and we hope you’ll continue your dedication to keeping others safe over the weeks until we see you again in January. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Socially distance.

I’d also like to take a moment to thank all the members of our UMPI campus community who have stepped forward to help the students who are quarantining and isolating for the next two weeks with hot meals, snacks, and activities. I am both humbled and proud at the outpouring of support and the care that is being provided. #UMPIstrong!  If you would like to help, please reach out to Debbie Roark at deborah.roark@maine.edu.

Stay safe,

Ray
