8/27/2021 – Message from President Rice to campus

posted in: Latest Communications

Dear UMPI Community,

As we make preparations for the coming academic year and communicate about the health and safety requirements in place for faculty, staff, and students, I wanted to make sure everyone is also aware of the requirements in place for campus visitors (guests or members of the public who come onto campus for various reasons).

As has been our general policy since this past June, campus visitors must be vaccinated or provide proof of a negative test result within the last 72 hours in order to enter our buildings, both on the UMPI campus and at the Houlton Center. Please note that, if asked by an UMPI official, guests would need to show their vaccination card or proof of a negative test. This requirement does not apply to campus visitors using outdoor facilities on campus. Exceptions can be made to this requirement with appropriate approval from campus administration.

In addition, face coverings are required for all guests (as well as employees and students) while indoors on campus, except when eating or drinking, alone in a room with a closed door, or in other special circumstances as determined and notified by UMPI leadership.

Our hope is that these measures allow our campus to safely remain open to the public throughout the academic year.

Ray
