University of Maine at Presque Isle Professor Kevin McCartney will present his research at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America [GSA], which is scheduled to take place Oct. 9-12 in Minneapolis, Minn. More than 6,000 scientists are expected to attend this international conference.
Professional and avocational archaeologists from Maine and farther afield will gather at the University of Maine at Presque Isle next month when it hosts the Fall 2011 meeting of the Maine Archaeological Society [MAS] on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011. The meeting will be held in the UMPI Campus Center from 12:45 to 8 p.m.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host Dr. David Hart, Director of the Senator George J. Mitchell Center and the Research Leader for Maine’s Sustainability Solutions Initiative, as the next speaker in its 2011-2012 University Distinguished Lecturer Series.
Dr. Hart will speak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the Campus Center about Maine’s Sustainability Solutions Initiative: Linking Knowledge with Action to Create a Brighter Economic, Social and Environmental Future.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will be offering two courses this fall beginning Monday, Sept. 26 and Wednesday, Sept. 28, respectively, as part of its American Management Association’s certificate programs. The course registration deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Criminal Justice students at the University of Maine at Presque Isle will take on local law enforcement officials during the 7th Annual CJ Students vs. Law Enforcement Basketball Game, to be held for the first time during Homecoming weekend.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will honor two alumni with awards of distinction during its Homecoming 2011 activities the weekend of Sept. 23-25. The annual alumni award presentations will be made for the first time during the State of the University Address by President Don Zillman, which will take place on Friday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. in the Campus Center.
