Special guest to kick off Mental Health for “Wealth” series

As part of a Rural Health and Wellbeing Grand Challenge Grant, the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Employer U program will host a series of workshops this spring focused on workforce mental health and wellbeing in rural communities. The series, Mental Health for “Wealth”, kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 20 with a presentation by special guest Dr. Errol Rodriguez, Assistant Dean of Psychology at Adelphi University.

UMPI announces $1.2 million solar array

A new alternative energy project is underway at the University of Maine at Presque Isle—a $1.2 million “middle sized” solar array field that is estimated to save the campus about $42,000 in electricity costs per year and generate about 460,000 kWh of electricity annually.

Reed Gallery presents People & Places exhibit

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery will present People & Places: Figurative and Landscape Art from the University Collections between Dec. 3, 2021 and Feb. 18, 2022. The public is invited to view the exhibition throughout the show’s run and attend the Opening Reception on Friday, Dec. 3, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Houlton Higher Education Center celebrates 20th anniversary

This fall, the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Houlton Higher Education Center marks two decades of serving the community and providing a wide range of educational opportunities to the region. While an in-person celebration was not able to take place in September due to health and safety precautions, officials are still finding ways to celebrate the milestone.

UMPI team develops accessibility map

A team at the University of Maine at Presque Isle has completed a unique accessibility mapping project, creating a GIS-based map that pinpoints all of the accessible features on campus, from handicap parking spaces to wheelchair accessible ramps and entryways.
