UMPI releases Dean’s List for Spring 2019

As part of a multi-campus collaborative effort within the University of Maine System, the University of Maine at Presque Isle will begin offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity starting in Fall 2019—one of only 5 programs in New England dedicated to Cybersecurity.
One hundred and seventy-one students graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle during the 2018-2019 academic year. On Saturday, May 11, during the 2019 Commencement Exercises, the University’s 110th Commencement, President Ray Rice conferred degrees upon 108 students who participated in the ceremony held in Wieden Gymnasium.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery will present All the Things I Couldn’t Say by Littleton artist Frank Sullivan from June 3 through Aug. 2, 2019. The public is invited to view the exhibition throughout the show’s run and attend the Gallery Reception on Friday, June 7, from 5-7 p.m. with an artist talk at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Library has received a gift of about 150 books, with more coming, about World War I thanks to a generous donation. Officially named the Nick Fowler Collection after the original owner of the books, the collection greatly increases the breadth of the library’s offerings on the subject of World War I.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle honored several employees for their years of service during the annual Employee Recognition reception held on May 15. Twenty-eight employees were recognized for their combined 395 years of service to the University.
The greenhouse under construction at the University of Maine at Presque Isle received its official name on May 20 when the University of Maine System Board of Trustees gave its approval for the state-of-the-art, four-season facility to formally be called the Zillman Family Greenhouse.

UMPI President Raymond Rice conferred degrees for the 2018-2019 academic year upon 112 students who participated in the ceremony held in Wieden Gymnasium.
It will be a fine feathered frenzy this summer when the University of Maine at Presque Isle and Wintergreen Arts Center present the Wild PI Goose Chase, bringing together the fun of a scavenger hunt with the thrill of the Amazing Race. This family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to Noon; the start/finish line is at the soccer field at Riverside Park, and registration, next to the soccer field, begins at 8 a.m. All are encouraged to take advantage of the early bird rate of $25 for a team of up to four people and $40 for more than a four-person team, through June 30. Registration increases to $35/$50 starting July 1.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Fine Art Program will present one solo exhibition developed through the 2018-19 Fine Art Senior Thesis Exhibition course. The exhibitions is being hosted in the Pullen Art Gallery in May.
