The University of Maine at Presque Isle honored several employees for their years of service during the Employee Recognition event on May 9. This year’s event recognized employees who marked a milestone anniversary in 2023. Eighteen employees were recognized for their combined 240 years of service to the University.
Two hundred and sixty-three students graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday, May 6, during the University’s 2023 Commencement Exercises—the University’s 114th Commencement ceremony.

In addition, Collins and Mary Barton Akeley Smith—philanthropist and advocate for community development in the region—will receive Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degrees during the University’s 114th Commencement Ceremony.
Defying Expectations is the theme of the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s 20th annual University Day, taking place on Wednesday, April 12, and students will be showcasing that theme in presentations on everything from digital storytelling using artificial intelligence to the art and science of early childhood education the opioid epidemic and drug policy in Maine.
