Project Explore is looking for instructors for their June 20-24 gifted and talented program, which is offered every summer at the University of Maine at Presque Isle for elementary and middle school-aged students in the community.
Project Explore is seeking instructors who are interested in teaching a concentrated course for eight to 15 students. Instructors should have expertise in their area of interest, have a stimulating and imaginative approach to learning, be able to adapt to differences in learning styles, and have the ability to provide a challenging learning experience for high-ability students.
Project Explore organizers are looking for new and innovative course ideas – for example, courses in magic, nature, foreign language, adventure, survival skills, robotics and fencing. Although some “tried and true” courses will be offered, instructors with new and innovative course ideas are encouraged to apply.
The Project Explore program will be hosted on the UMPI campus and will be held from 8:45 a.m. until 3:40 p.m. each day. The program is open to students entering grades two through eight in the fall of 2011. Instructors will be hired by the University and will receive $400 per course. Students will attend one or two courses per day.
If you are interested in applying to instruct a course, contact Mary Lawrence at 768-9502. Applications are due by Feb. 1, 2011.
