Reed Gallery presents “O Time Your Pyramids” by Julie Poitras Santos

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery is proud to present O Time Your Pyramids by Portland artist Julie Poitras Santos, from Friday, March 4 through Friday, April 15, 2016. The public is invited to view the exhibition throughout the show’s run and attend the Gallery Reception on Friday, March 4 from 5-7 p.m., which is being held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk. The event will include a durational performance featuring five UMPI Art students and a Gallery Talk at 5:30 p.m.

University hosts spring semester blood drive

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host its annual spring semester American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, Feb. 18 from 12 to 5 p.m. in the Campus Center’s Multi-Purpose Room. Door prizes will be given away during this time. Members of the campus and community are invited and encouraged to participate in this free event.

UMPI’s Gentile Hall celebrates 10th Anniversary

The University of Maine Presque Isle will mark the 10th anniversary of Caroline D. Gentile Hall in a way that its namesake would approve—with wellness activities, healthy snacks and a celebration of community. This anniversary celebration will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 2-5:30 p.m. inside the facility. All are invited to attend this free event.

Caleb Ward serves as DLS student speaker

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s very own Caleb Ward will serve as the next speaker in the 2015-2016 Distinguished Lecturer Series on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m., in the Campus Center. Ward, who is the third UMPI student ever to serve as a student Distinguished Lecturer, will deliver his talk Mongolia: The Research Trip of a Lifetime. His talk is free and the public is encouraged to attend the event.

UMPI’s Pullen Art Gallery presents The Art of Meow

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Pullen Art Gallery will host a special open exhibition in February that pays homage to the feline—The Art of Meow will be on display from Feb. 5 to 26, with an opening reception on Friday, Feb. 5 from 6-8 p.m. during the February First Friday Art Walk. UMPI announces Good Neighbor Grants for western New Brunswick high schools

Graduates from high schools in western New Brunswick will be able to take advantage of a unique, tuition-saving opportunity at the University of Maine at Presque Isle beginning in Fall 2016, when the University begins offering its Good Neighbor Grants program. University and New Brunswick school officials—including the Superintendent for the Anglophone West School District David McTimoney—were on hand for a press conference on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (11 a.m. Atlantic Time) in the UMPI Admissions Office, to officially announce the new program and share details about it.
