To the UMPI campus and greater community–
It is with great pleasure that I officially announce that the University of Maine at Presque Isle has been named one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the 2020 survey by The Great Colleges to Work For® program. This is the very first time that a public university in Maine has received this national recognition.
Additionally, UMPI has been distinguished as a 2020 Honor Roll Institution by The Great Colleges to Work For® program for achieving high scores in 11 out of 12 categories. To put this honor roll status into perspective, only 7 universities and community colleges across the nation achieved Honor Roll status with recognition in 11 or more categories last year.
This is a remarkable achievement for our campus and speaks to the excellent work our faculty and staff are doing every day to make this institution a great place to work and a great place for students to be successful. Later this week, The Great Colleges to Work For® program 2020 survey results will be released in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, and you will see UMPI featured as a recognized institution, on the Honor Roll, and in an article about the University of Maine System’s work with Great Colleges.
Our thanks for the leadership out of HR–Megan, Dori, Melissa–that facilitated continuous improvement work and data collection/survey efforts and to each and every one of our employees who make UMPI such a wonderful place to work. It truly takes great people to make a great college.
