University of Maine System Chancellor James Page will speak on The University of Maine System: Challenges & Opportunities during the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming business breakfast, to be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 in the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Campus Center.
As he completes his first year as Chancellor, Dr. Page will share his perspective on Maine’s seven public universities and how they are working with our state’s businesses to drive economic development. He will also provide an update on several strategic initiatives underway during the past year at the System.
Dr. Page became Chancellor of the University of Maine System in March 2012. Prior to that, he was principal and chief executive officer of the James W. Sewall Company in Old Town, and also served as an adjunct professor in University of Maine’s Department of Philosophy. He previously served as president, senior vice president, and chief operating officer of the Sewall Company. He grew up in Caribou and obtained degrees from the University of Maine at Fort Kent, St. Andrews University in Scotland, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Theresa Fowler, Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce Executive Director said, “The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce is very pleased to provide residents of the communities we serve, and others in Aroostook County, with the opportunity to meet Chancellor Page and hear him speak about the initiatives underway at the University of Maine System. We’re very pleased to have this serve as his first official address to local community leaders.”
The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce serves, advances and publicizes the commercial, agricultural and civic interests of Aroostook County with special interest on the communities of Ashland, Blaine, Castle Hill, Chapman, Easton, Mapleton, Mars Hill, Masardis, OxBow, Portage Lake, Presque Isle, Washburn and Westfield. The Chamber regularly holds business breakfasts to provide chamber members and area leaders with an opportunity to network and hear presentations on topics that significantly impact the region and the state.
